Comparative moral principles: justifications, values, and foundations

Abstract The article compares three influential theories used in sociology and psychology to categorize types of morality—Luc Boltanski & Laurent Thévenot’s justification theory , Shalom H. Schwartz’s basic human values Jonathan Haidt’s moral foundations —to simplify the complexity presented by different categorizations, while retaining necessary nuance, translate concepts each into language other two. A comparative table is evaluate which categories correspond where do make distinctions that are lacking from This summary framework Comparative Moral Principles (CMP) consists eight principles compare, explain, interpret practices motivation meaning-making: Liberty, Inspiration, Safety, Community, Care, Equality, Deservingness, Competition.
